Fire and Explosion Investigators

Fire and Explosion Investigators

We are currently looking to fill vacancies for consultants in the Fire and Explosion Investigation Division of our Cardiff, London, Rotterdam, Singapore, Houston and Melbourne offices.

The role involves the investigation of fires and explosion incidents worldwide. The complexity of incidents is wide ranging and candidates must be able to appreciate the diversity of issues involved.  This will include electrical, mechanical and chemical problems, of which the candidate must be aware, and either be able to address those issues or defer to other experts within the company. As such, the candidate must be able to think on their feet and carry out investigations in isolation or as part of a team when it is deemed necessary.

Candidates would be expected to be able to provide advice at live incidents and investigate the root cause of fires and explosions. Candidates would take into account witness, electronic and documentary evidence alongside practical, hands on debris recording and excavation including sampling, testing and laboratory based investigative analysis. Post incident analysis will often utilise the analytical capabilities of our independent laboratory at our Cardiff head office. All work should be conducted to forensics standards.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills (both practical and theoretical), and be able to record, report, and present the results of their investigation to experts and non-technical clients.  Candidates should be able to support their findings when subject to critical analysis by their peers, and be able to present those findings in court.

Candidates would enjoy a wide variety of work and should be willing and available to travel worldwide at short notice.  The successful candidates will have a suitable science or engineering bachelor’s degree and preferably a related doctorate.  Previous experience of fire and explosion investigations and/or forensic consultancy would be advantageous.

Recruitment will be by interview only and competitive terms and conditions will be discussed on application.

Interested parties should request an application form by email from and return it to the same address, enclosing a detailed curriculum vitae.
