Mike began his career as a Materials Technician in soil, concrete and bituminous material testing for motorway construction projects before going to Australia and Bahrain for various road and general construction projects. On returning to the UK as a Materials Engineer for a large firm of Civil Engineers, he was responsible for the materials testing laboratories of major construction projects. He was engaged primarily in testing concrete, aggregates, bituminous materials, soils, geo-technical instrumentation, ground anchors and reinforced earth. Since joining MTD in 1991, Mike has used his extensive knowledge of construction materials testing to expand our Building and Construction Materials Testing Division. He has also used his skills and expertise in the assessment of commodity damage and contributes in our environmental department on a variety of projects. He is responsible for the investigation of building and construction material failures, as well as land contamination incidents.
