John is an experienced analytical chemist and Public Analyst. He has more than 20 years experience, at least 18 years of which have been spent in Public Analyst laboratories. He gained experience as an analyst at BDH (E. Merck) before moving to his specialised profession of the Public Analyst field; the Official Food and Feeding Stuff Enforcement Laboratories for the UK. Initially at Tickle & Reynolds where he specialised in instrumentation, environmental, toy and consumer protection as well as undertaking routine food analysis before moving to Leicestershire Council to oversee the environmental/general section testing feeding stuffs, fertilisers, toys, cosmetic, household products, asbestos identification, potable waters, effluents and soils; both chemically and microbiologically. He also assisted with all areas of food analysis and laboratory accreditation. In 2005 he joined MTD to assist running the Public Analyst Division at Cross Hands including perform independent Road Traffic Act blood and urine alcohol analysis. He is a registered expert witness. In the same year he obtaining his MChemA Public Analyst qualification and subsequently took up appointments to several South Wales Local Authorities as Public Analyst & Additional Agricultural Analyst. In 2007 he took up the additional role of Head of all the Chemical Laboratories at the Cardiff site.
