Etienne Brown

Chemist (Houston)

With a BSc in Mathematics, a minor in Chemistry, and three years of graduate coursework in topics of Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and Computer Science, Etienne has conducted research in mixed classical/quantum theoretical chemical systems and Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy; as well as taught a wide variety of courses in chemistry. In a push to play a significant role outside of academia he migrated to working in a chemical testing laboratory as a Chemist. In this role he expanded his knowledge and gained experience in industry chemical standards, instrumentation, and procedures, including, but not limited to, GC, HPLC, UV-Vis, extractions, and purifications.

After establishing a solid position in the chemical industry as an analytically-minded individual he shifted assignments to investigating claims for bulk liquids transportation major as one of two in-house chemists. This allowed him to gain experience in the start-to-finish risk and claims process for chemical tankers, ISO containers, barges, terminals, and rail cars.

As a Chemist for MTD (USA) he continues to use his scientific background to investigate marine claims and assist in resolution of unique incidents.
