Colin's career in chemistry for the marine industry began in ship repairing where he verified safe entry in enclosed spaces and issuing naked light certificates for welding and burning repairs on ships, shore installations, road and rail tanks. He became a manager for a surveying firm, where he was responsible for the inspections of bulk oil, gasses, chemical, petroleum, and dry goods cargoes, and carrying out pre-shipment inspections and draught surveys. Colin joined MTD in 1992, and has attended incidents worldwide offering evaluation of analytical data, cargo measurements, product blending, loading, discharging and transhipment operations. He also has expertise in the recovery of distressed cargo, using chemical treatments or blending.
